Once again, for my Christmas Technique Tip of the Month, I offer a gift to you of a special
classical guitar arrangement of a Christmas carol. I usually try to make these Christmas songs
easy to play (but still sound full and interesting) so they can be learned by Christmas.
NOTE: This is NOT the same arrangement as the one on my classical guitar Christmas CD, In
Heavenly Peace.
This classical guitar version of Away In A Manger uses the melody most often heard in
England, but was actually written by American hymn composer William J. Kirkpatrick. It was first
published in 1895. My special thanks goes to composer/guitarist Elizabeth Niedt for her
valuable assistance with this Christmas song arrangement.
The complete arrangement of the Christmas song can be perused below, but it's hard to read
